Artwork Requirements for DTF Transfers:

File Formats:

  • Preferred: PNG (raster format with transparent background) - This is the most widely accepted format for DTF printing due to its transparency and ease of use.
  • Acceptable (with limitations):
    • EPS (vector format): While vector formats are ideal for scaling without losing quality, some DTF providers may require converting them to raster (PNG) for printing. Ensure all text is converted to outlines and any effects are flattened before submitting.
    • PDF (may require conversion): Similar to EPS, PDFs might need conversion to PNG. Double-check with your provider if they accept PDFs and their specific requirements.

Color Mode:

  • RGB: DTF printers use CMYK inks, but submitting your artwork in RGB allows for a wider color gamut during printing, resulting in more vibrant colors.

Resolution:

  • 300 DPI (dots per inch): This ensures sharp and clear prints on your transfers. Lower resolutions will appear blurry or pixelated.

Background:

  • Transparent: Your design should have a transparent background to allow the garment color to show through.

White Areas:

  • Leave white areas white (HEX: FFFFFF): Don't add strokes or colors to define white areas. The white ink in the transfer will create the desired effect.

Mirroring:

  • No mirroring required: DTF transfers are typically applied directly, so there's no need to mirror your artwork.

Text and Fine Details:

  • Minimum thickness: 0.018 inches: Lines and text smaller than this size may not print well or transfer properly. Consider using bolder fonts and simplifying intricate details.

Transparency Effects:

  • Avoid: Effects like shadows, gradients, and drop shadows won't translate well during printing. Use solid colors instead.

Sizing:

  • Match desired final size: Resize your artwork to the exact dimensions you want it to appear on the garment. Most DTF transfer providers won't resize your artwork for you.

General Tips:

  • Double-check your artwork for any errors or inconsistencies before submitting it.
  • Consult with your DTF transfer provider for any specific requirements they may have.
  • If you're unsure about your artwork quality, request a test print before placing a larger order.
